Foster Animals
Be a Critical Part of Saving Lives - Be a Foster Family
Throughout the year, we often receive orphaned kittens and puppies that are too young and small to be adopted. Even if we have room at the shelter for them, spending their days in a small kennel doesn’t provide the attention and socialization they need to become well rounded and affectionate pets. Spending a week or two (or longer) in a home where they can grow, be cared for, socialized, and loved not only saves their lives, but helps ensure they are ready to be adopted. Please consider joining our family of foster families and help save lives.
- Puppies and kittens under two months old
- Mothers with nursing litters
- Dogs and cats with medical conditions or injuries
- Animals with special needs
The typical foster stay is two weeks to two months, depending on the needs of the individual animals in your care. The time frame of each foster situation will be discussed with you ahead of time.
Yes, we welcome pet owners as fosters. Please keep in mind that there is always a health risk when exposing your pets to other animals, in any setting. However, the risk is minimal if your pets are vaccinated and in good health. We also recommend keeping fosters in a quiet room of the house.
Foster families provide care, exercise, socialization, and lots of love! We provide all food and any necessary medical care for animals in foster homes, including vaccinations and medications.
